Deepak Ghimire is far more than a familiar name in Nepal’s art and entertainment fraternity; he has steadily emerged as a distinctive and admired presence among the new generation of models and artists. With more than a decade of professional experience, he has transformed his passion for modeling and the performing arts into a sustained professional journey marked by perseverance, versatility, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Over the years, Ghimire has demonstrated his talent through numerous profile features, documentaries, television and commercial advertisements, modeling assignments, fashion shows, runway presentations, beauty pageants, and more than five dozen music videos. His contributions, however, extend beyond appearing in front of the camera. Through his own organizations and initiatives, he has actively participated in conceptualizing, producing, coordinating, and organizing entertainment programs, while contributing to the promotion, preservation, development, and professional advancement of Nepal’s creative industries.
His journey is one of ambition transformed into achievement, a story of an individual who continues to refine his craft, embrace new challenges, and aspire to carry Nepal’s artistic identity to increasingly prominent national and international platforms.
Below is a conversation with Deepak Ghimire about his journey, achievements, philosophy, and vision for the future.
How do you look back on your past?
I look back on my past with immense gratitude. Every stage of my life from childhood to the present has contributed something meaningful to the person and professional I have become. I was born in Arunachal Pradesh, India, and raised in a middle-class family. My childhood was modest, but it was rich in values, learning, discipline, and experiences that helped shape my personality. From an early age, I was interested not only in academics but also in extracurricular and creative activities. At the age of four, I began my formal education at Deiring Primary School in Arunachal Pradesh, where I studied through Grade 7. I subsequently moved to Kathmandu and lived with my aunt in Lagankhel, Lalitpur. I continued my education at AIMS Academy, completing my studies from Grade 8 through Grade 12.
While pursuing my education, I gradually developed a strong desire to establish myself in the creative world, particularly in modeling and the performing arts. That aspiration eventually led me to New Delhi, India, where I decided to pursue my artistic ambitions more seriously.
How did your journey unfold after moving to Delhi?
Moving to Delhi was a defining chapter in my life. It was where my interest in modeling began to evolve into a serious professional pursuit. Alongside my academic studies, I dedicated myself to learning the technical and practical aspects of modeling. During my first three months, I underwent intensive theoretical and practical training, which helped me understand the discipline, presentation, body language, camera awareness, runway techniques, and professional expectations of the industry. Following that training, I began participating in fashion showcases, runway presentations, and music video productions. I was fortunate to receive opportunities to work at prestigious events in India, Dubai, and other international destinations. The nearly two years I spent in Delhi were immensely formative. They strengthened my confidence, expanded my professional network, sharpened my artistic abilities, and gave me invaluable exposure to the workings of the international entertainment and fashion environment.
Eventually, I returned to Kathmandu, carrying with me not only experience but also a much clearer vision of what I wanted to accomplish professionally.
When did you develop an inclination toward art, entertainment, and modeling?
My fascination with art and performance began during childhood, long before I understood that it could become a profession. I actively participated in religious ceremonies, cultural gatherings, festivals, wedding celebrations, and community programs. These experiences gave me an early opportunity to express myself creatively and gradually cultivated my passion for performance. At school, I became a regular participant in cultural programs and extracurricular activities. I particularly excelled in dance and acting, frequently securing top positions in competitions and performances. Throughout my academic years, I received various honors and recognitions at school, inter-school, regional, district, and provincial levels. These achievements were more than awards to me, they were encouragements that strengthened my confidence and convinced me that creativity was an important part of who I was.
How did you embark on the journey toward formal and professional modeling?
While I was studying in Grade 10, a photographer from Kupondole, Lalitpur, noticed my height, appearance, and personality. Standing at approximately 6 feet 1 inch, I naturally attracted attention within the fashion environment. Through my mother, the photographer encouraged me to participate in an upcoming fashion show and catwalk event in India. At the time, I did not fully realize how significant that opportunity could become. I simply embraced it as a new experience. I participated in the event and achieved a notable position. That experience gave me the confidence to take modeling more seriously.
Later, during 2016/17, I participated in the International Runway show held in Dubai, which provided another important international exposure. The appreciation and recognition I received through my work in Delhi, Kathmandu, Dubai, and other destinations gradually transformed what had begun as a passion into a professional career. With a long-term vision for the industry, I established E4 Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. in 2012 and Paramount Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. in 2018, assuming leadership responsibilities as a director and continuing to work toward creating opportunities for artists and emerging talents.
What are the roles and objectives of these organizations?
Since their establishment, our organizations have focused on developing and managing diverse initiatives in the fields of art, entertainment, modeling, fashion, and events. E4 Entertainment and Paramount Entertainment have sought to create professional platforms where emerging talents can be discovered, trained, developed, and connected with meaningful opportunities. Our objective is not simply to organize programs or produce entertainment. We aspire to contribute to the broader professionalization of the industry by creating opportunities for artists, models, performers, and creative professionals to showcase their abilities both nationally and internationally. I believe the entertainment industry can grow sustainably only when talent is supported by professionalism, discipline, mentorship, and genuine opportunities. That philosophy continues to guide our work.
A few years ago, your appearance as a catwalk model at the prestigious ‘Couture Fashion Week’ in the United States gained significant recognition. What was the reality behind this achievement?
Yes, participating in Couture Fashion Week was one of the defining milestones of my international modeling career. From February 12 to 14, 2016, the 23rd edition of the prestigious multi-day fashion event was held at Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, New York City, USA. The event brought together fashion designers, models, artists, and creative professionals from different parts of the world. I had the privilege of representing Nepal through a runway presentation in Daura Suruwal, the traditional national attire of Nepali men. Walking onto an international runway wearing Daura Suruwal was not merely a modeling assignment for me. It was an opportunity to present a piece of Nepal’s cultural identity to an international audience. That moment remains deeply meaningful because I was not simply representing myself as a model I was carrying a symbol of Nepalese heritage onto a global fashion platform.
The experience became a major turning point in my professional journey and strengthened my determination to establish myself as an internationally recognized Nepali model.
What inspired you to choose this profession?
For me, modeling and artistry were never simply career choices. They gradually became an integral part of my identity. From childhood, I was naturally drawn toward performance, creativity, fashion, and artistic expression. As I gained experience, I discovered that this was a field in which I could continuously learn, challenge myself, communicate with people, and express my creativity.
After acquiring both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, I realized that modeling could provide me with a meaningful platform to transform my passion into a profession.
I therefore chose this field not merely because I wanted to become a model, but because I believed I could build a meaningful career within the wider creative industry.
What areas of modeling have you explored so far?
My professional journey has taken me across a wide spectrum of the modeling and entertainment industry. I have worked in profile features, documentaries, commercial advertisements, fashion shows, runway presentations, beauty pageants, feature films, and more than five dozen music videos, among other projects. In addition to modeling, I have been actively involved in event conceptualization, production, coordination, management, and organization. These experiences have allowed me to understand the industry from multiple perspectives not only as a performer in front of the camera, but also as a professional involved behind the scenes.
I believe this broader experience has strengthened my understanding of the industry and enabled me to contribute to it in a more meaningful way.
Could you mention some notable songs from the music videos you have featured in?
I have had the opportunity to appear in numerous music videos featuring established artists and well-known musical productions. Some notable songs include “Timi Nai Timi”, “Mayalu Sabun”, “Pani Piune”, “Anjanai Ma”, “Make It Large”, “Bistarai Bistarai”, “Sayaun Karan”, “Timrai Boli”, “Ghazal Unkai, Geet Unkai”, and “Timra Nayan”, among many others. Being part of such productions has provided me with valuable experience in front of the camera while allowing me to collaborate with some of the respected names in Nepal’s music and entertainment fraternity.
What are you currently engaged in?
At present, I remain actively engaged in modeling, acting, event conceptualization, production, and entertainment management. I continue to explore new creative opportunities while receiving offers and proposals from various projects. At the same time, I am focused on expanding my professional horizon and creating opportunities that connect Nepali talent with national and international platforms. My journey is still evolving, and I believe the best chapters are yet to be written.
What has society and the nation given you in return?
The recognition I have received from society, Nepal, and the international creative community has been one of the greatest rewards of my journey. Whatever position I hold today is the result of years of dedication, perseverance, learning, opportunity, and the support of countless individuals who have believed in me. At present, I serve as Vice President of the Nepal Modeling Association and as Managing Director of E4 Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and Paramount Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.
Throughout my career, I have also been fortunate to receive numerous honors and recognitions, including Nepal Aama Ratna Samman–2021; Tarkeshwor National Personality and Artist Creator Honor–2022 (Special Honor); State Cultural Honor–2024; Shah Studio Appreciation Award–2024 for my contribution to the Miss and Mr. Kids Nepal beauty and entertainment program; International Modeling Recognition–2024 for my contribution to national and international modeling at the 12th Nepal Africa Film Festival, Milap National Personality Award–2024, Global Excellence Award–2024 and Shah Business Excellence Award–2025, among others. Beyond these honors, I have also had the privilege of serving as a judge in various competitions and programs associated with the art, modeling, and entertainment sectors. For me, these recognitions are not merely titles or trophies. They represent trust, responsibility, encouragement, and an expectation to continue doing better. Every award reminds me that recognition is not the destination. It is a responsibility to raise the standard of one’s work even further.
How satisfied are you with your profession?
I am deeply satisfied with the profession I have chosen. I believe the most fortunate people are those who are able to turn their passion into their profession. For me, modeling and artistry provide both, an opportunity to build a career and an opportunity to experience genuine happiness through the work I love. Of course, every profession has challenges. The entertainment industry demands patience, resilience, constant learning, and the ability to adapt. But those challenges have made my journey more meaningful.
I remain confident that the creative industry holds tremendous potential for my future. I am determined to continue learning, improving, creating, and representing Nepal with dignity and professionalism.
