How an F&I Expert Is Helping Dealers Protect Consumers, Navigate Policy Changes, and Elevate Industry Standards
For Adam Marburger, the automotive industry has never just been about selling cars. It has been about empowering dealerships—helping them build more substantial businesses, serve their customers better, and provide the financial protections that make vehicle ownership more secure.
As the president and CEO of Ascent Dealer Services, Marburger has dedicated his career to providing finance and insurance (F&I) training, products, and strategies that help dealerships increase profitability, improve compliance, and enhance the customer experience.
That commitment to supporting dealerships took him to Washington, D.C., where he joined forces with industry leaders at Public Policy Day to advocate for fair regulations, consumer protections, and the essential role F&I products play in the industry.
A Critical Moment for F&I and the Automotive Industry
Public Policy Day, hosted by the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) and the Texas Automobile Dealers Association (TADA), provided a platform for leaders to discuss policies affecting dealerships and consumers nationwide.
One topic of discussion was the CARS Rule. This proposed regulation could have affected dealership operations and consumer access to F&I products like vehicle service contracts, GAP insurance, and other financial safeguards.
Recognizing the potential risks, Marburger stepped up—engaging directly with senators, members of Congress, and policymakers to help them understand the real impact of such regulations on dealerships and the customers they serve.
“This wasn’t about politics—it was about protecting the consumers who rely on these products and the dealerships that work hard to serve them,” Marburger said. “F&I products aren’t just optional add-ons; they’re essential tools that help customers manage financial risk and protect their investment in a vehicle.”
A Major Win: The CARS Rule Vacated
A key outcome of Public Policy Day was the decision to vacate the CARS Rule, which had been a topic of concern regarding its potential impact on dealerships and their customers.
For Marburger, this was not just a policy win but a reminder of why industry leaders must continue advocating for fair and balanced regulations.
“This was a victory for dealers and consumers,” Marburger said. “But our work doesn’t stop here. We have to stay engaged, keep educating lawmakers, and ensure that policies support—not hinder—the ability of dealers to serve their customers effectively.”
Beyond Advocacy: Elevating the Industry Through Education and Leadership
Marburger’s passion for the automotive sector extends far beyond policy discussions. Through Ascent Dealer Services, he has worked with F&I professionals to support dealership profitability while emphasizing ethical, customer-focused practices.
His book, The Servant Leading F&I Manager, has been recognized by professionals in the finance and insurance industry. It is now set to be released in Russian, making it accessible to a broader audience.
“Great leadership and ethical selling practices aren’t bound by geography,” Marburger said. “The principles I teach in this book—serving first, leading with integrity, and delivering real value—apply anywhere in the world.”
