From a Child Performer in Georgia to the International Fashion Stage of New York

There are artists who discover their passion later in life, and then there are artists who seem to be born with it.

For Mariami Margvelashvili, movement has been a language since childhood. Born in Kutaisi, Georgia, she entered the world of dance at an exceptionally young age and stepped onto the runway for the first time when she was only four years old. What began as a childhood passion gradually developed into a lifelong artistic journey that would take her from Georgia to international stages, from dance competitions to choreography, from teaching children to the fashion world of New York City.

Dance became the foundation of everything she would eventually become.

From her earliest years, Mariami demonstrated a remarkable instinct for movement, rhythm, stage presence, and visual composition. She did not simply learn choreography. She developed the ability to understand how movement could create a complete picture on stage. Formations, patterns, transitions, and timing became part of the way she naturally understood performance.

Her talent soon carried her beyond Georgia.

As a young performer, Mariami participated in international competitions and festivals, gaining experience in highly competitive environments and performing before international audiences and professional juries. Among the significant achievements of her early career are two Grand Prix victories in Israel, one in Eilat and another in Haifa.

Her international journey continued with another major achievement in the United States. In 2018, in Las Vegas, Mariami received the Grand Prix at the Golden Dream International Festival in the Dance category.

For Mariami, these awards were never simply trophies. Each competition represented another stage of growth, another opportunity to challenge herself and another step toward the international career she envisioned.

But there was always more to her than performing.

The Choreographer’s Vision

As Mariami developed as a dancer, she discovered a second passion: creating movement for others.

She began teaching children in Georgia and creating choreography, sharing the knowledge she had gained through years of training and performance. Her work with young dancers allowed her to experience the artistic process from another perspective. She was no longer only the student learning choreography. She became the person creating it, teaching it and helping another generation find confidence on stage.

Her choreographic vision became one of the defining elements of her artistic identity.

Mariami sees choreography as a visual language. She understands how individual dancers can become part of one larger composition and how formations, movement and timing can transform a performance into something memorable.

For her, choreography is not simply about teaching steps.

It is about creating a story through movement.

That philosophy followed her across the ocean.

When Mariami continued her professional journey in the United States, she brought her experience as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher with her. In New York City, she continued working with children and young performers, teaching dance and helping them develop confidence, stage presence, coordination, and an understanding of performance.

From Dance To Fashion

At the same time, Mariami’s career began expanding into fashion.

New York introduced her to a creative environment where dance, fashion, photography, choreography, and live performance constantly intersect. Her background gave her an advantage that could not easily be taught. She already understood the power of movement.

A runway became another kind of stage.

A model’s walk became another form of choreography.

A fashion presentation became another opportunity to tell a story through the body.

Mariami began appearing on American runways and participating in fashion productions while bringing the discipline and movement of a trained dancer into the fashion world.

Her modeling career also expanded through professional photoshoots, fashion editorials and creative productions in New York. In front of the camera, she combines movement, expression, posture and presence to create a visual story.

She has appeared both on the runway and in front of the camera, while also contributing behind the scenes to fashion productions.

For Mariami, modeling is not separate from performance.

The stage gave her movement. The camera gave that movement a frame.

New York: Backstage And Center Stage

Her collaboration with producer Dimitri Manuel has become an important part of her New York fashion journey.

Mariami works within fashion productions both behind the scenes and on stage. She helps models and young women prepare for runway appearances, working on walking, posture, movement, presentation, and stage presence. Her choreographic experience also allows her to contribute to formations and the overall visual presentation of productions.

Then, when the lights come on, she steps onto the stage herself.

She is not simply the person walking onto the runway.

She is also part of the creative process that helps create what the audience eventually sees.

Her professional work has included fashion shows, runway presentations, photoshoots and fashion-related productions in New York, including New York Fashion Week and New York Fashion TV events.

This ability to move between performer, choreographer, mentor and creative collaborator has become one of the most distinctive characteristics of her career.

A dancer understands movement.

A choreographer creates movement.

A teacher passes movement forward.

A model embodies movement.

Mariami has lived all four.

A New Chapter In America

Behind the performances, photographs, and fashion events is another important part of Mariami’s story.

Her life in America brought her into a completely new chapter as a mother. Mariami gave birth to her child in the United States, where her baby was born an American citizen.

For approximately three months, she stepped away from the demanding rhythm of her professional career to dedicate herself to motherhood.

But the pause did not define her.

Her return did.

Mariami came back to her professional life with renewed determination, returning to dance, choreography, teaching, and fashion in New York. Rather than seeing motherhood as the end of one chapter, she embraced it as part of the woman and artist she had become.

She did not return simply to recreate the life she had before.

She returned to build something new.

A Career Still In Motion

Today, Mariami’s professional story continues to develop in New York.

She maintains an active contractual professional relationship within the fashion production world and continues to participate in ongoing work, productions, and creative projects. Her career is not simply a collection of past achievements. It is an active and evolving professional journey.

Her work continues across several connected areas: dance, choreography, teaching, modeling, runway performance, fashion production and creative collaboration.

Her journey has also been documented through media features, which highlighted her evolution from the dance floor toward the fashion runway.

The story is therefore not about leaving one career behind and starting another.

It is about evolution.

Mariami brought the discipline of dance into modeling. She brought choreography into fashion. She brought teaching into New York. And she brought her experience as a performer into every new creative environment she entered.

The Artist Behind The Image

What makes Mariami’s journey distinctive is that she has never been limited to one role.

She began as a child performer.

She became an international competition dancer.

She developed as a choreographer.

She became a teacher.

She continued that work with children in New York.

She entered the American fashion world as a model and performer.

She learned to work both backstage and on stage.

And she continues to build her career through active professional collaborations.

For Mariami, fashion is not a departure from dance.

It is another way of expressing movement.

The runway becomes choreography.

The camera becomes an audience.

The photograph becomes a frozen moment of movement.

And the stage remains the place where she feels most at home.

From Georgia to Israel, from Las Vegas to New York, her journey continues to evolve.

She is no longer simply the little girl who discovered dance at an early age. She is an artist who has transformed years of discipline, international experience, choreography, teaching, and performance into a multidimensional career.

And she is still moving forward.

Because Mariami Margvelashvili was never meant to stand still.

She was meant to move.
